Colorado Rocky Mountain School is looking for a highly qualified, full-time upper school music teacher for the fall of 2022. Arts educators at CRMS cultivate creativity, performance skills, and an ethos of excellence. Music is studied in small, student-driven performance ensembles in which students explore diverse genres and styles. CRMS music students understand contemporary music through research, the study of music fundamentals, theory, technique, and live performance.

CRMS faculty employ a student-centered approach to teaching, meeting individual students’ needs in developing an academically vibrant and skilled level of scholarship. Faculty also participate in our active program (including outdoor, sports, arts, and community service curricula) and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Teach three to four academic music courses
Produce four music performances annually
Support boarding students as a dorm parent in the evening and weekend residential program
Mentor a group of students as an advisor
Instruct active program curriculum including trips, mountain sports, arts, or service work
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
Take on other duties as needed
Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in music required; advanced degree and/or teaching credential preferred
Music teaching experience (1-year minimum)
Experience teaching a variety of instruments, styles, and genres
Demonstrated experience in the use of technology, and in integrating technological applications in the classroom
Skilled use of recording and engineering software (Logic Pro or Pro Tools) preferred
Experience preparing and presenting a live performance
Organization/time-management skills
Cultural competencies required to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging within a diverse cultural and social framework
Ability to effectively engage with students as a dorm parent and advisor

The Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is a college-preparatory independent high school located thirty miles northwest of Aspen in the mountains of western Colorado. CRMS’s average enrollment is 175 students in grades 9-12 from various countries.
